Liquid Handling Applications

Liquid handling is a core component to many laboratory processes and as such forms an invaluable tool in ensuring we can implement many systems and techniques.
We make use of many techniques in handling liquids of all kinds, including substances that are harmful for normal human interaction.
Common techniques include:
- Peri-pumps: Used to order to aspirate/dispense normally large volumes of liquid at very high flow rates, although at a reasonably low accuracy.
- Syringe pumps: These are widely used in our systems in order to very accurately aspirate/dispense liquids. The syringe barrel used can be chosen to suit the specific requirements of each system, from 1ml to 100's of ml.
- Multi-port valves: Used to direct the flow of liquid across multiple syringes, pumps, input and output containers.
Sample chilling using peltier coolers:
- Sample racks are often cooled using Air to air/solid/liquid Thermo Electric Peltier chillers in order to mantain sample integrity throughout a process
- Air to air peltier chiller for micronic blocks
- Peltier deep well chiller for 720 samples
- Peltier chiled GC block
