Powder Feeder Weighing Robot

The weighing and mixing of ore and sintering powders for sample analysis in
the mining industry is a laborious and time consuming activity. Labman specialises in the automation of feeding and weighing applications. The system shown here is the Labman 1200, gantry-type Cartesian co-ordinate robot. The system design has a robust cabinet with fume/air extraction built in and interlocked doors for containment to minimise hazards. It is designed to feed ore and sintering powders to fine tolerances typically +/- 2mg with a sample cycle time of around 2 minutes. Even lower tolerances +/- 0.2mg are possible should it be required. The sintering powder is auger and vibro-fed from a hopper and the sample ore vibrated and poured from individual sample containers. New sample vials can be fed into the workspace from underneath for continuous 24 hour operation.
