Labman have produced many Water Analysis based systems for Laboratories around the world. These systems include one or more of the common tests listed below.
- pH
- Turbidity
- Colour/UV
- Conductivity
- COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand)
- BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand)
- Filtration
- Temperature
- Titration
- Konelab integration
Powder Feeding
Powder Feeding forms the basis of many systems developed by Labman and as each powder is unique we have a wide range of technologies to feed them.
- Pin feeders
- Vibro feeders
- Auger screws
- Spatula feeding
- Volumetric dispensing
- Pour feeding
Liquid Handling
Liquid Handling covers a broad spectrum of applications that are often combined to build a complete analytical process. Common applications usually involve dilution, sample aliquoting and sub-sampling, mixing and dispensing.
- Sample preparation
- Aspiration/dispense of any volume/weight
- Reformatting
- Homogenisation
- Viscous liquids
- Spotting
Weighing Systems
Weighing Systems are used often in combination with other technologies to create a fully automated process. These can include dispensing/feeding of materials into containers for recipe generation. Simple tare weighing processes are also common place.
- High throughput weighing
- Time-based weighing / weight tracking
- Dispensing systems
- Recipe generation
- Sorting systems
Auto Analysers
Auto Analysers is a general term used to describe the integration of existing technologies, machines or analysers into an automated system. Common applications include loading of samples automatically into an otherwise manual (and time-heavy) system.
- Analyser integration
- Sample loading
- Result validation / categorisation
- HPLC GC/MS sample preperation
Large Scale Laboratory Automation
The BIG laboratory automation picture. Integration of multiple robotic systems is the ultimate solution for an automated laboratory. Labman have designed many fully laboratory systems that incorporate multiple robotic systems, each performing unique tasks simultaneously. Software controlled conveyor and transport systems can then be utilized to transport samples around the laboratory without operator intervention. The most noted example of this kind of automation can be seen in our Vitens Automated Laboratory system.
- Fully automated laboratories
- Integrated robotic systems
- Communication
Material Testing
Material Testing systems are used to analyse specific properties of a sample, including their viscosity, surface friction, temperature etc... The possibilities are endless!
- Friction measurement
- Viscosity
- Rheology
- Temperature
Chemical / Pharmaceutical
Chemical and Pharmaceutical based applications are employed by many companies to automate the analysis and sometimes the manufacturing of their products. An automated solution can provide a hands-off approach that eliminates operator variances and provides consistent results day-in, day-out.
- Forced drug degradation study systems
- Dissolution systems
Testing & QC
Testing / QC systems can be used to validate the construction of a device by testing it thouroughly with an automated procedure where the test parameters do not change as may be the case with a human tester. Repetitive testing can often be too much for an operator to perform day-in and day-out and is known to cause RSI injuries. Robotic systems can therefore take over and reduce the risk of such injuries.
- Cardiac sensor testing and QC
- Pressurised Metered Dose Inhaler (pMDI) testing
- Dry Powder Inhaler (DPI) testing
- Drug delivery testing (plume and dose measurements)
- Lloyd instruments equivalent force testing
- Friction measurements
Software
Labman employ a team of experienced software programmers that design, develop and test all of the software to control our robotic systems. Our software team is always happy to discuss the software design; including the GUI, input/output files and database integration aspects of any system. Standalone applications are also possible to help automate some processes including data analysis, sorting, file generation etc.
- Image analysis
- LIMS Integration
- Bespoke Interfaces / modules
- Standard hardware modules available
- Data management (solution 11 etc)
Unique Applications
The term 'Unique applications' covers systems that do not fall into one of the 'normal' categories. Labman are always happy to look at any applications, no matter how crazy they may seem!
- Bumble bee and ant simulator
- Micro positioning applications
- Cryogenic applications
- TIDAS Paints
- Load Cell Force Tester
- Coating of Electrode Bodies for Medical Applications
Mining
Mining application based systems employ various technologies that suit the type of processes required for the mining industry.
- XRF bead analysis
- Mining ore FTIR analysis
Paints
Paints analysis and handling systems can be used to automate the handling and analysis of paint samples. Our unique TIDAS system is used throughout the world for the reliable assessment of paint samples (see the TIDASpage for more details). Dispensing and recipe generation of paint materials is performed with multi-station automated systems that create, mix, dispense, draw-down and analyse experimental or commercial paint samples.
