Having a fulfilling job can be great for your mental health and general wellbeing. We believe in a workplace where everyone can thrive, so at Labman, we want to help protect our employees by addressing mental health and wellbeing. 

Helping Labman staff

Mental health is something which affects us all. When we enjoy good mental health we feel that sense of purpose, we are more productive and we have the energy and drive to do the things we want to do.

We pride ourselves on our open culture at Labman. We want our staff to be able to speak up and seek support without judgement. At Labman we have Mental Health First Aiders who are trained as a first point of call. They will provide support and guidance and can signpost people for specific help. We also have the help from an onsite Psychotherapist with whom staff can make confidential appointments should they need them. By directly addressing the subject on our internal communication channels, and reminding staff of opportunities to talk and seek help, we hope to encourage a culture of openness around it. Accepting that you might have a mental health issue and speaking up about it is often the first and greatest step towards helping yourself. 

Physical activity

Linked very closely to great wellbeing is regular exercise. It boosts your self-esteem, helps your concentration and productivity, and it can really improve work relationships. We actively encourage our employees to get involved in activities at work, to suggest their own activity groups and share their experiences. Some of the activities we support are squash, football, yoga, running, gym and bouldering & climbing. There are also groups for book club, art club and chess club, pool and table tennis. Labman also covers the cost of an onsite physiotherapist for those over worked muscles.

We will continue to make improvements to the way we can help the wellbeing of our staff. But for the time being, here’s to a positive, open and happier World Mental Health Day.
