We are thrilled to announce that Labman has been awarded the Engineering Firm of the year Award for 2024 at the NEPIC Annual Industry Awards. The award ceremony, which was attended by over 450 industry leaders, saw outstanding achievements in the processing industries celebrated through several awards in various categories.

The Engineering Firm of the year award recognises excellence in innovative and timely solutions to engineering problems and project delivery performance.

The criteria for the award has focuses on Innovation and impact, people’s development and client satisfaction, and we are proud that Labman has been recognised for our continuous achievement in the engineering industry.

Innovation & impact

Labman aim to innovate both in terms of our projects and solutions, as well as our business structure and the way we run operations. The business operates with a flat structure which promotes the free flow of ideas, skills and experience. Employees organically shift teams and can cross over into other disciplines, ensuring a seamless flow as projects progress through the stages of development.

Our customers benefit from innovative systems for service and support. They have access to a live telemetry platform - Traciot, developed by Labman allowing them to see system dashboards and key performance metrics for their robots. Traciot also acts as a powerful support tool to maximise productivity, allowing customers to raise tickets and request assistance from anywhere in the world.

Labman operates in a way which promotes open communications and knowledge sharing. We have an open IT system, an internally developed knowledge base where all procedures and guides are held. Every staff member completes bi-annual audits to stay connected to all parts of the business.

Labman are ISO 13485 certified, GxP and 21 CFR Part 11 compliant for the manufacture of medical devices and bioprocessing hardware and software.

Our impact in the engineering industry is shown through our collaboration with industry leaders. Our work with Syngenta has contributed to more sustainable and resilient crops. The Pathfinder™ and our bioprocessing skids expedites pharmaceutical manufacturing for rapid vaccine responses. Our automated slurry handling system for Berkeley lab’s AI driven A-Lab has enabled the rapid synthesis of novel materials, and Labman’s collaboration with CPI aided in discovering high-performance batteries for the EV market.

Staff development

Labman is committed to investing in the continuous development of people and skills, both within the workplace and outside. We have 15 social clubs and societies which we actively invest in. Our HQ has a climbing wall, squash court, gym and pottery shed.

We host 2-4 year-in-industry interns, 6 summer interns and 3 apprentices annually, and we have hosted Future Engineer competitions, along with our Fight Fest, promoting engineering enthusiasm.

Over 25% of Labman staff have pursued external training, including apprenticeships, IET chartership support and funded further education.

Client satisfaction

At Labman, our customer satisfaction data is collected when a project closes, and this data is reviewed weekly. In 2023 our average satisfaction rating was an amazing 4.8/5! Customer satisfaction is of the utmost importance to Labman, and we will always strive to make improvements where necessary.
