Dubbed the ‘best ever Labfest’, this year’s annual Labman celebration was indeed one to remember.
Labfest '22 - Sports
2022 was themed ‘Sports’ and the dress code and games followed suit. From a giant inflatable obstacle course and bouncy castle provided by AR Entertainments to races and sporting challenges, there was something for everyone. Fresh wood fired pizza was provided by Knead ‘n’ Feed for lunch.
The traditional scrap heap challenge was followed by engineering relay, limbo, some beer pong, and the After Eight challenge which got the competitive juices flowing during the afternoon, thrown in with some quintessentially Labfest games of Hammerschlagen. After all that hard work, the staff were served with a delicious banquet of meat and vegetarian food. Beef, lamb and pork supplied by G. Bolam Foods were slow cooked in the on-site fire pit served with a selection of tasty marinades, meat rubs and sauces, all prepared by a group of Labman volunteers. Salads and desserts were accompanied by a few beverages, soft and otherwise provided by Three Brothers Brewing Co.
Despite a spot of rain, the atmosphere was not dampened as the fun moved inside where prizes were presented for the challenges, including fastest person in Labman, best dressed and an eating competition. The night concluded in the usual style with a cosy huddle around the bonfire.
Labfest is a much anticipated event in the Labman calendar - a party hosted and funded by the company MD to thank all Labman staff members for their hard work.
The celebration plays an important role in Labman’s ongoing efforts to create an inclusive and enjoyable culture of work and play for those who wish to be involved. It’s not about forcing the fun, it’s about making the space for the fun to happen and Labfest '22 was no exception.
