Labman’s green-fingered team are building more than just automation - they’re nurturing a thriving allotment too. Tucked around the side of our factory, the employee-run plots are bursting with fruits and vegetables, lovingly cared for all year round.

Leading the charge is experienced engineer and long-time allotment enthusiast, Sam Bright. Sam currently manages five plots and has big plans to combine them into one larger space next year for even better efficiency. This season, his plots are overflowing with a variety, including onions, garlic, fennel, broad beans, runner beans, tomatoes, golden courgettes, and plenty more.

New to Labman but already making her mark, Michele Brough from the finance team has thrown herself into allotment life with enthusiasm. She’s spent many of her lunch breaks carefully weeding, removing old roots, and preparing her beds. Now, she’s begun planting her first Labman harvest: beetroot, potatoes, and aubergines.

Elsewhere in the allotment, there’s no shortage of activity. Plots are thriving with lettuces, sweetcorn, apples, and even a dedicated strawberry patch.

We’ll be checking back in later this year when the harvest begins.
