Formulation Engine
A next-generation modular formulation system to transform your laboratory

The Formulation Engine, created for Liverpool University's Materials Innovation Factory, is the culmination of Labman's 40+ years of experience in designing and building laboratory automation; a large, module-based, automated system that works with scientists to produce complex formulations quickly and efficiently.
Advanced automation
advanced.
Complete modularity
Designed to be future-proof and expandable, the Formulation Engine can accommodate up to 8 modules simultaneously, allowing for the creation of complex formulations, as well as increased throughput.
Labman can integrate any process into the Formulation Engine as a distinct module: mixing, heating, freezing, weighing - anything you need as part of your formulation or testing process.
Key features
Zonal access to each module whilst not disturbing the wider system
Remote setup of runs, MDUs and more via dedicated setup software
24/7 unattended operation, even when working across multiple modules
The system can accomodate a large variety of input/output containers
In-built CO2 fire suppression system
Dispensing via Labman's Material Dispensing Units (MDUs)
Much of the dispensing in the Formulation Engine is processed by Labman's Material Dispensing Units (MDUs). These simple-to-use units can dispense liquids and powders at set temperatures, viscosities, and weights.

Bespoke design. Custom build.
As with any Labman system, the Formulation Engine was designed and built in our HQ in the UK to meet the exact specifications of Liverpool University. Each module is similarly built to requirements to ensure that the scientists and laboratory technicians who work with the system have all the tools they need at their disposal to create great formulations.
