Tube filling system

A fully automated filling and capping system designed to be situated inside a microbiological safety cabinet.
Labman custom system: Tube filling system

Key features

Throughput5 x custom designed heads (25% increase). Parallel processing of liquid dispensing. 870 tubes per hr.
Tube handlerTorque monitoring for adjustable capping, Individual float and 4 jaw pneumatic grippers on safety float. Cap and tube detection sensors.
Liquid dispensing5 x Tecan XL6000 Pumps with 5ml barrel size and quick interchangeable fluid path for autoclaving.
Small footprintHigh density racks with small gantry footprint. Remote I/O blocks and local pneumatic valve banks to reduce cable density.
SafetyExternal Light gates for easy interaction with system and rack removal.
UsabilityEasy interaction with systems. Magnetic rack locks and fluid path, pull out liquid dispensers and labeller. Sensors detect when systems are in maintenance positions and require user intervention.

Overview

The Tube Filling and Capping System is situated inside a microbiological safety cabinet and is designed to pick capped tubes from racks, decaps the tubes, fills the tubes via syringe pumps, recaps the tubes and places these back to the rack. The system is fully automated and has capacity for three, 280 position tube racks compatible with 7ml Sarstedt tubes. 5 Handlers work simultaneously to maximise system speed. The system was designed as part of the same workflow including the Tube Labelling System by Labman.
